Hehe! My skills are no better than yours Damion! I believe that you are seriously talented, and you have time on your side, 'cause you're really young (I know that I'm only 6 years older than you are, but believe me when I say that 6 years make a lot of difference). You are very humble, and that’s an amazing thing considering what you can do. You should always stay that way in order to preserve an honest and exact opinion about your own work and keep your vision from being clouded. However, keep this in mind: You are a great artist and you should NEVER allow people to tell you different. In my experience one should never give ammunition to the “enemy”.
Take it from me man, in this world there are people that won’t hesitate to shoot you down whenever they have the chance to do so. The more you get better at what you do, the more they will try to make you feel like crap. DON’T LET THEM! When you are nobody, everyone is a friend and they all have nice things to say to you, how talented you are, that you're gonna make it, bla bla bla. But when great things finally start to happen to you, some of those people that you thought where your friends will just turn their backs on you for apparently no reason and then start to trash you. First they wouldn’t miss an opportunity to tell you how great you are, then they suddenly become critics and extremely cynical about your work. There are also those who will always try to exploit you as soon as they realise that they can take some advantage of you talent. Beware of the false motives of those people, ‘cause they can be great actors! One must sleelp with both eyes wide open, LOL!
My advice to you: Enter every single illustration competition that you can find. National and international. Contact the best Publishers of books on art, illustration and design and ask if they're interested in publishing your work - you've got nothing to loose. Don’t even go like: “Oh no, I’m not good enough!”. I’m telling you man, YOU'RE GOON ENOUH to do whatever the hell you wanna do! You’ll see Damion, “good things will come to those who wait”. You just have to work hard enough (and you’re a fighter, I can tell! :) Even if you don’t exactly live in the land of opportunity (Lord knows I don’t - lol), if you put your heart into it, you will definitely get there!
